Project Ara was under the development of Google. The project was completely interlinked with modular smartphones. Formerly this project was headed by Advance Technology and Projects Teams (ATAP) and Motorola and later the project split off as an independent operation.

The actual design of project Ara consists of hardware modules that can provide the smartphone parts like processors, displays, batteries, cameras etc.  By this, the required part in the device is only upgraded with some new capabilities so that there is no need for the purchase of an entirely new device.

This results in the reducing of electronic waste. However, project Ara moved towards highest prices to bring modular phone a reality. Later confirming the reports Google announced that its project Ara smartphone was suspended due to the technical issues.

Not every street in the world has internet access. Many parts of the world still lack internet connections. To evade this drawback Google has come up with a creative project called Project Loon.

The aim of this project is to extend the internet connection to all the parts of the world with some specially designed balloons that travel in the air. By sending these balloons it is possible to provide the internet connection to the remote and rural areas worldwide.

The designed balloons are maneuvered by adjusting particular altitude to fly in the air. Generally, these balloons are fixed to fly in the stratosphere. The direction to fly was provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In order to transmit signals to ground stations, all the balloons use patch antennas which are also called directional antennas.

In a balloon network, signals travel from balloon to balloon and then to the ground station which is connected to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) following global internet. People who have Google SIM cards on their mobile phones can access the internet services. Google can proudly say that through project loon,  it has been providing internet connection to more than 5 billion population to date.
